Matthew Matsunaga, O.D.
Dr. Matt earned his Doctor of Optometry from New England College of Optometry in 2014. He holds a Bachelors of Science degree in General Biology from University California at San Diego. He is a member of Beta Sigma Kappa, an honorary optometric society.
Dr. Matt joined the practice as an associate optometrist in November 2014 and as of October 2015 has since taken over the practice and renamed it Southwood Optometry for its location in the West Torrance area. He is glaucoma and TPA certified to prescribe therapeutic medications for red eyes and other ocular problems. He is also certified in MiSight (myopia management with soft CLs), Paragon CRT and Dreamlens for orthokeratology and has extensive experience in fitting irregular corneas and keratoconus with the latest contact lens treatment strategies using hard/gas-permeable lenses, scleral lenses, and hybrids. Dr. Matt is a member of the American Optometric Association, California Optometric Association and South Bay Optometric Society and has been a clinical investigator with companies such as Bausch & Lomb, Cooper Vision, and Innovega for new contact lens products.
Dr. Matt is a native of Torrance (West High Warrior Alum) and continues to be involved in the community. When not practicing he enjoys working out, playing basketball, collecting sneakers, and spending time with family, wife, daughter Mina, and doggo Eleven (Elle) an English Cream Long-Haired Mini Doxie (yes, we are a fan of the show Stranger Things).

Mark E. Nakano, O.D.
Now no longer consistently active at this practice (as of 2016), Dr. Nakano was named the Dean of Clinical Affairs at Marshall B. Ketchum University in 2015. Dr. Nakano is a member of the American Optometric Association, California Optometric Association and South Bay Optometric Society. In addition to caring for his patients Dr. Nakano is an active clinical investigator for Menicon, Bausch & Lomb, Ciba Vision, Alcon Ophthalmics, Wesley-Jessen, Vistakon and Coopervision.
